The United Nations reports that 783 million people do not have access to safe water

Nearly one billion people do not have access to clean, safe water and approximately 2.5 billion do not have access to a toilet. As a result, more than 3.5 million people die every year, children are unable to receive an education, and millions are trapped in a cycle of poverty.

Every 20 seconds, a child dies as the result of drinking unsafe water. Ninety-eight percent of those deaths occur in the developing world. Further, women and children spend many hours gathering water which prevents them from pursuing business opportunities or getting an education. Providing villagers in the developing world with a safe water source is the single most impactful thing you can do to save and improve lives.

Through access to safe water, we can help turn tragedy, illness and death into hope, good health, and life.
